India News (India News), Gonda Crime: Police in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh have arrested a man for raping a 25-year-old Dalit woman on the pretext of marriage and forcibly forcing her to convert to Islam. A police officer gave this information on Wednesday (June 19).

Additional Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Rawat said that in her complaint, the woman has accused a man named Taj Mohammad of raping her on the pretext of marriage and forcibly converting to Islam.

Forced to convert to Islam

The police officer said that after allegedly raping her last year, the accused threatened her that she would be killed if she told anyone about the incident. In fact, a few days ago, he also hurled casteist abuses at her. Based on her complaint on Tuesday, the police registered an FIR against Taj Mohammed under charges of rape (376 IPC) as well as sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the UP anti-conversion law. We have arrested the accused and started investigating the case, the officer said.
