Girl Abducted In Front Of Father Marries ‘Kidnapper’, Seeks Protection From Family
In a strange incident, an 18-year-old girl married her Kidnapper in Telangana hours after being abducted in front of her father. She even released a video after the kidnapping and sought protection from her family. Earlier on Monday, a video of four people Kidnapping the girl went viral.
In the video, a girl identified as Shalini was kidnapped in broad daylight while returning home from a temple with her father in the Sircilla district.
After registering a case, the local police confirmed that four people were involved in the incident and stated that efforts to arrest them were underway. However, the police also said that the girl had eloped with her lover in the past and her lover might have retaken her as she had grown into an adult individual.
Following the abduction, three teams of policemen were constituted to locate and arrest the four men, Vemulawada DSP Nagendra Chary said. Upon scanning CCTV visuals, police identified the main accused as Gyaneshwar, an unemployed youngster from the village and launched a manhunt to capture them, TOI reported.
Girl posts video after marriage
Even as police apprehended two accused and started interrogating them to locate the ‘kidnapper’, Shalini released a video on social media after happily marrying the man who abducted her. In the video, the 18-year-old revealed that she had been in love with the man for four years and even married a year back. They could not legitimize their marriage as they were minors.
Family was against marriage with Dalit boy
The girl also made serious allegations against the family. She claimed that her parents did not accept the man as he belonged to a Dalit family. Shalini said they were dead against marriage as Gyaneshwar, aged 22, belongs to the SC community, whereas Shalini is a Munnur Kapu (BC). Shalini further said, “They were arranging another marriage for me. So, he came to elope with me as I asked him. We request protection as we have a threat from our family.”
“They married in a temple at Luxettipet. Once they come to us, we will record their statements and act accordingly,” he said. Gyaneshwar was arrested earlier in a Pocso case for eloping with the girl while she was a minor and marrying her, Sircilla district superintendent of police Rahul Hegde told TOI.
