Ghaziabad by-election result: Akhilesh’s Dalit card failed for the second time, SP lagged behind from here, 12 lost their deposits
Another reason for SP’s defeat was not preparing for the election in advance. Congress was preparing till the last minute in the SP-Congress alliance for the by-election. There were more than 10 ticket contenders from Congress.

The Dalit card played by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav by giving ticket to Singhraj Jatav did not prove to be effective. SP’s intention seemed to be to create a Dalit-Muslim equation but it could not succeed. The combined number of Dalit and Muslim voters on the Sadar seat is more than one lakh. Apart from these, there are also Yadavs. SP also has an alliance with Congress. Despite this, SP has got less than 28 thousand votes.
This is the second consecutive time that Akhilesh Yadav’s Dalit card has not worked. Earlier in 2022 also, he had given ticket to Vishal Verma. Then BJP’s Atul Garg defeated Vishal Verma by more than one lakh votes. Atul Garg got 1,50,205 votes and Vishal Verma got 44,668 votes. Singhraj got even less votes than Vishal.
Singhraj Jatav is a resident of Linepar area and has been on important posts in BSP for a long time. Therefore, SP leaders felt that he would be at the forefront in Linepar and would be able to attract Dalit votes but nothing like this happened.
Coordination with Congress was not possible
Another reason for SP’s defeat was not preparing for the election in advance. Congress was preparing till the last moment in the SP-Congress alliance for the by-election. There were more than 10 ticket contenders from Congress. It was believed that only Congress would contest from Sadar seat but it did not happen. Just before the nomination started, it was decided that SP would contest. After this, coordination between Congress and SP organization could not be made.
SP lagged behind in campaigning
SP lagged behind in election campaigning as compared to BJP. While CM Yogi came four times to seek votes for BJP, Akhilesh Yadav from SP came only once. Akhilesh held a meeting with the workers, did not hold any public meeting. No big leader from Congress came for SP. During the Lok Sabha elections, Akhilesh and Rahul Gandhi had come to Ghaziabad together, but this time the pair was not seen together.
SP could not repeat history
Twenty years ago, by-election was held on this Sadar seat. SP had won that. SP could not repeat this history. Apart from one victory in the 2004 by-election, SP has lost every election here. Another link has been added to this chain of defeat.
