‘For sale’ signs put up, Dalits ‘forced’ to leave
Agra: Days after a 32-year-old Dalit man was allegedly beaten and his private part ‘slashed’ by upper caste men for “objecting” to tree felling on his land in Etah, four out of seven families have left their homes in Hasanpur under Kotwali Dehat police limits. On Monday, “this house is for sale” was written on their doors. The families said “they fear for their lives” as the accused men are still at large.
“We were forced to leave our house. The upper caste men have been threatening us,” said Suresh Kumar, an eyewitness of the attack on Satendra Kumar and his wife.
