FIR against policeman who beat Dalit youth
Guna: SP took strict action on Saturday in the case of locking up a Dalit youth and beating him mercilessly at Panwadi Haat outpost. He issued orders to register an FIR against the ASI surrounded by allegations. He was also suspended. Bhaskar had raised this issue prominently. According to SP Sanjeev Kumar Sinha, on February 22, the applicant Vijay, son of Kaluram Ahirwar, resident of Pathar Mohalla Panwadi Haat, had applied. According to this, on February 16, he was going to Panwadi Haat with his wife and children. Then ASI Bhanwar Singh Rajput beat him fiercely. Then he was taken to Panwadi Haat Chowki, there too there was a fight. SP said that when this matter came to light, ASI was immediately put on line. After this, Raghogarh SDOP investigated the matter. After this, a case was registered against ASI under sections 323, 294, 506 IPC and 3(1)(D), 3(1D), 3(2)(V6A) SCST Act.
Other people were also involved. The victim Dalit youth alleged that apart from the ASI, three other people were also among those who assaulted him. He was beaten with belts and sticks. He was forcibly taken away from the market in a jeep and then beaten up at the police post also. There were deep injury marks all over his body. However, no action was taken against others. Nor were the names of such people revealed.
