Fight is for spirit of country: Priyanka Gandhi slams Centre over ‘businessmen friends’
NEW DELHI: Wayanad Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticised the BJP-led Centre on Sunday, highlighting concerns about the government’s actions that she claims are diminishing people’s rights whilst benefiting few businessmen friends. During her address in Mananthavady, she said, “Today we are fighting for the spirit of our nation, soul of India.”
“We are fighting against a force that is doing everything in its power to destroy the institutions upon which our country was built,” she added.
On the second day of her constituency visit, she expressed concerns about the current administration’s impact on national institutions, suggesting that their actions are undermining the country’s foundational structures.
She made a commitment to stand alongside Wayanad’s residents in addressing their concerns and requirements. Her schedule includes additional public addresses at Sulthan Bathery at 12.15 pm and Kalpetta at 1.30 pm.
During her two-day Wayanad visit with Rahul Gandhi, she participated in public gatherings across multiple locations on Saturday, including Mukkam in Thiruvambadi, Kaulai in Nikambur, Wandoor and Edavanna in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts within the Wayanad Lok Sabha segment.
In the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll, Priyanka secured her first electoral victory with an impressive margin of 4,10,931 votes, surpassing the lead previously achieved by her brother Rahul when he won the constituency in this year’s general elections.
