Dr Ambedkar remembered on 29th anniv of renaming of Marathwada University

Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Jan 14 (UNI) Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Ambedkar paid homage on the occasion of 29th anniversary of the renaming of the Marathwada University on Saturday.
The members of the dalit community and people from different walks of life paid homage to the Ambedkar’s statue at the main gate of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University ( BAMU) campus.
The day is being observed to commemorate the martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of renaming of University .
The day is also celebrated as ”Sangharsh Din”.
Number of people from various organisations reached the BAMU campus and paid floral tributes to his statue since morning.
On this occasion tributes also paid to the martyrs who have laid their lives during the movement of renaming.
A special lecture by Senior writer Dr. Ishwar Nandpure on the topic of ‘Namvistar Ek Drustikon was held in the university auditorium Saturday morning .
Along with this, there will be programs like greeting meetings, Bhimgeet singing among others on behalf of various party organizations.
An inter-college Bheem song competition was also organised at College of Arts, Commerce and Science at Walaj.
Later, in the evening, a public rally would be held, being addressed by the dalit prominent leaders.
