Delhi Congress launches Dalit manifesto ahead of MCD elections
The Delhi Congress launched ‘Dalit manifesto’ to woo voters from the backward communities.
By Abhishek Anand: The Delhi Congress on Tuesday launched its ‘Dalit manifesto’ ahead of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi polls that will be held in the first week of December.
President of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) Chaudhary Anil Kumar launched the Dalit manifesto with former party MP Krishna Tirath and former MLA Jai Kishan. Former MLA Anil Bhardwaj and other senior Congress leaders were also present for the launch.
“The Aam Adami Party (AAP) has continuously betrayed the Dalit community in the national capital. They were missing when Sant Ravidas temple was being demolished and haven’t even started reconstruction despite court orders. The BJP and AAP were missing when a Dalit girl was raped. The Congress is the only true friend of Dalits in the national capital,” said Kumar.
“In the Dalit manifesto, we are promising a new Sant Ravidas temple. Also, we will regularise the services of all the sanitation workers, who are on contract. We will abolish the contractual system for the benefit of the sanitation workers,” said Kumar.
“We will make sure all funds for Dalits are utilised thoroughly. We will ensure that the dream of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit of a shining Delhi with the contribution of all communities comes true,” said Kumar.
Elections for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will be held in a single phase on December 4 and the results will be declared on December 7.
In the 250-ward Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), 50% of the seats have been reserved for women
