Dalit youth held captive, tortured & assaulted by girlfriend’s family in Gujarat
A 24-year-old youth, who was allegedly abducted and tortured by his girlfriend’s family, has been rescued by the police Gujarat Police.
Ahmedabad: A 23-year-old Dalit youth was allegedly assaulted and tortured by his girlfriend’s family in Gujarat. The youth, who was allegedly abducted on October 1, was rescued by the Ahmedabad Police’s Detection of Crime Branch (DCB).
The victim has been identified as Rahul Chamar. A resident of Meghaninagar, Rahil was allegedly abducted by a man named Vinod Datania and his associates when he was outside a D-Mart shop in Bapurnagar on October 1.
The accused allegedly thrashed Rahul for being in a relationship with Datania’s daughter. Meanwhile, the police was informed about the case and a team was formed. On the night of October 2, the team received information that the youth was being held captive at Vijay Mill in Shaherkotda.
When the police reached the spot, they found the victim with injuries on his face and body. Reportedly, the accused had tied Rahul’s hands and legs as well. He was rescued and admitted to a private hospital from where he was later taken to the Civil Hospital, The Indian Express reported.
