Dalit woman’s body found in Karaulivillage; family alleges rape, murder
Jaipur: A 20-year-old Dalit woman’s body with gunshot injury was fished out from a well in a village in Karauli district on Thursday morning. Police initially termed it a suicide and got the autopsy done.
The woman’s family, however, alleged that she was kidnapped, raped and shot dead and that the assailants had also thrown acid on her face and other body parts. The family members were not happy with the post-mortem and staged a protest.
According to the cops, the woman’s mother claimed her daughter went missing after both had gone to the outskirts of the village to attend nature’s call. Later in the afternoon, her body was found in the well. Kirori Lal Meena MP reached the police station and demanded a compensation of Rs 50 lakh for the woman’s family.
He accused police of manipulating facts and sought a second autopsy with videography of the procedure. “She was kidnapped from her house and raped. Two bullets were found on her body. Also, the assailants had thrown acid on her face as burn injuries were found. The administration is trying to manipulate the incident. The woman’s uncle is filing an FIR for kidnapping, rape and murder,” Meena said while talking to TOI.
The MP claimed that the initial post-mortem report said the woman had not sustained any injuries. “Now, they have admitted that gunshot wounds were found on her body,” he said, adding that the authorities had agreed for a second post-mortem by a medical board on Friday and to record it on video.
Meena also sought action against policemen for negligence. When contacted, district SP Mamta Gupta confirmed the gunshot injury and assured a proper investigation.
