Patna: Madhubani police on Wednesday exhumed the body of an 18-year-old Dalit woman, who was allegedly raped and killed, at a village in the district on Monday. A complaint in regard was filed by the mother of the deceased on Tuesday night, accusing a local man, his father and a ward councillor, said police.
The SHO of the local police station, Ravindra Kumar, said that the body was sent to Madhubani sadar hospital for postmortem, which could confirm if she was raped. No injuries, however, were found on the body.
“An FIR has been lodged against the man, his father and the ward councillor. Raids were conducted at the man’s house, but he, along with his father, have fled the village,” the SHO said.
According to the cops, the woman went missing on Monday evening. “The victim’s mother, in her complaint, accused the man in his twenties of threatening and pressuring her daughter to marry him. The mother stated that four days ago, when her daughter was returning home from college in Madhubani, the man had intercepted her and pressured her to marry him. The complainant alleged that the man had threatened to kidnap, rape and kill her daughter if she refused.”
