Dalit woman was molested, filled water from hand pump and said – I will take away my youth
The victim said in her complaint that on touching the hand pump, the accused abused her and said, ‘You touched the hand pump, we have to fill water, wash the hand pump’. When the victim opposed this, the accused threatened to take away her youth and started fighting.
In Banda, Uttar Pradesh, a case has come to light of a Dalit woman being molested, assaulted and washed after filling water with a hand pump. The matter is of two months ago, the victim woman had given a complaint in this regard to the police, but when the police did not take any action, the victim approached the court. Now, on the orders of the court itself, the police have registered a case against the five accused under various sections of the IPC besides the SC ST Act. The police is investigating the matter.
According to the police, the case pertains to a village in Matoundh police station area. The victim woman has told in her complaint filed in the CJM court that she belongs to the Scheduled Caste and takes care of her family by doing wages. On the evening of 31 October 2022, she was alone in her house. At the same time, a person from the village forcibly entered his house and started watching TV. When the victim protested, the accused caught hold of her with a bad intention and did obscene acts. However, he left after threatening to see if the woman protested. After this, on the morning of 3 November, she was filling water from the hand pump near the house. Meanwhile, the accused came along with many of his companions and abused them using casteist words.
Threatening to take off youth
The victim said in her complaint that on touching the hand pump, the accused abused her and said, ‘You touched the hand pump, we have to fill water, wash the hand pump’. When the victim opposed this, the accused threatened to take away her youth and started fighting. The accused also thrashed the people who came to save them for making noise. The victim told that she immediately informed the police about the matter, but the police did not take any action in this matter.
Case registered for untouchability and indecent behavior
SP Abhinandan told that the woman had filed an abatement in the court. On the orders of the court, a case has been registered under sections 354, 147, 323 of the IPC besides the SC ST Act. Police is searching for the accused.
