In village Akouna under Khajuraho police station, the Dalit woman Sarpanch of the Gram Panchayat was badly beaten up by the village bullies. The Sarpanch’s husband told the police that my wife Uma Ahirwar, Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Akouna, was cooking food in the kitchen of her house. At the same time, Amit Singh Parihar of the village came inside my house and started saying to Sarpanch Uma in the kitchen that what are you Sarpanch of the village. You don’t get the common road from our door repaired. There was an argument over this.
As soon as Amit started beating Sarpanch Maa, I reached there. When I took Amit outside the house, Amit started beating me too. He was threatening that how do you do Sarpanch.
Children rescued
The victim Sarpanch and her husband told that on hearing the sound of beating, their children came. The children intervened and got them released. Amit Singh Parihar has also threatened to kill them if they meet him again. After the complaint of Sarpanch and her husband, the police have registered a case against the accused. Khajuraho SDOP Salil Sharma told that the matter is being investigated. Further action will be taken after this.
