Dalit woman hanged after police raped, arrested
On December 29, the body of a 25-year-old woman was found hanging from the ceiling of Agra police constable Raghavendra Singh’s rented room, police said.

New Delhi: Agra-based Uttar Pradesh police officer strangled a 25-year-old Dalit woman after raping her. This was reported by the police on Tuesday.
They said the woman’s body was found hanging from the ceiling of the policeman’s rented room on December 29, NDTV reported.
According to police, the woman had visited the constable’s room in Agra a day before the incident.
Chhata Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) RK Singh said, “Agra-based police constable Raghavendra Singh (27) has been arrested for murdering a 25-year-old woman from Chhata police station in Agra. She died in her rented room in Bellanganj. found dead.
He said the Agra police have registered a case against the constable under sections 306, 376 of the IPC and SC/ST Act. The postmortem report listed the cause of death as hanging.
RK Singh said, “Constable Raghavendra Singh is a resident of Jhansi and was staying in a rented house in Bellanganj. The two knew each other from before. The woman worked at a kidney center in Gurgaon.
The officer said that Singh had come to the office on the day of the incident but left early. He later reported the incident to his colleagues.
He was arrested on Sunday based on a complaint by the woman’s family.
According to her brother, the two studied nursing in Jhansi and have been in touch ever since. He said, “We also went to Raghavendra Singh’s house, but his family rejected our marriage proposal. But he was in a relationship with my sister.
