Dalit man’s body lay on road as upper caste men refuse cremation in Madhya Pradesh; video goes viral

Chhatarpur: A yet another shocking case of caste discrimination has been reported from Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh. Some goons from the upper caste community stopped a Dalit family from cremating the body in the village ground.
The accused kept the Dalit family waited for five hours until the police forces arrive at the scene and provided the security to family until the last rites were performed.
The incident took place in Congress MLA’s home in Urdmau village under Maharajpur tehsil in Chhatarpur district.
The upper caste men initially did not allow the last rites of the elderly Dalit man’s body even on government land that already reserved as cremation ground.
At last, the local administration had to intervene and additional police forces were called in so that the body could be cremated by Dalit family.
The issue was connected to road access and the court has resolved the issue. People from the other community were not giving way to the cremation ground and administration helped the Dalit family to finally perform the last rites of the body. We are taking appropriate action against those who blocked the way for the dead body,” Vijay Sen Tahsildar told Mirror Now.
In another incident reported from Karnataka on December 2, a Dalit youth was allegedly tharshed after being tied to a tree by four upper caste men for overtaking their vehicle on his motorcycle. Feeling humiliated, the youth later committed suicide.
The deceased was identified Uday Kiran. The victim had overtaken the group of upper caste men upsetting them. They then stopped his vehicle and allegedly assaulted him and confiscated his two-wheeler and mobile.
