Dalit man thrashed with slippers for denying free chicken in UP’s Lalitpur
In Uttar Pradesh’s Lalitpur district, a Dalit man was thrashed in the middle of the road after he refused to give free chicken to the accused.
A video of the assault has been doing the rounds on social media. It is said that the victim, Sujan Ahirwar, was beaten by men who were allegedly in a drunken state.
Sujan Ahirwar, who sells chicken from village to village on his bike, was asked for a chicken by a group of drunk men while he was commuting. Sujan asked them to pay for the chicken but the accused beat him fiercely with their slippers instead.
A passer-by made a video of the incident which has now gone viral. Following this, the police registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
