Dalit man assaulted: Dalit youth attacked with burning sticks for entering temple

Dalits are not even given the privilege of offering a scepter to the god in the temple. When a Dalit entered the temple, some people attacked him with burning sticks. This horrific incident took place in Uttarakhand’s Uttar Kashi district.
A 22-year-old Ayush went to the shrine in Sarla village of Mori region to visit the deity. However, Ayush complained to the local police that some upper castes tied him up and beat him with burning sticks when he entered the temple. Later, Ayush went to a local hospital for treatment, but the doctors advised him to go to a general hospital for better treatment as he had severe injuries on his body.
In his complaint, Ayush stated that the upper castes got angry and attacked him as he was a Dalit, asking him why he had come to the temple. Based on his complaint, the police have registered a case against five villagers under the SC/ST Act and are investigating. Complete details are being collected on this incident.
