Dalit girl raped by councillor, two others; video uploaded

Muzaffarnagar: A 13-year-old girl from the Dalit community was allegedly gangraped by three men, including a local councillor, in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district. The class 7 student was given a drug and sexually assaulted on November 23, police said on Thursday.

Superintendent of police (SP), Hathras, Devesh Kumar Pandey, said that all three accused were arrested — two on Wednesday and the third on Thursday — and sent to jail.

One of them is the councillor of Hathras nagar panchayat, police added.

An FIR was registered under IPC sections 376D (gangrape), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation), and the SC/ST Act.

The girl’s mother filed a police complaint. In her complaint, she stated, “Her daughter was alone at home on November 23 and had pain in her stomach. She asked her neighbour for medicine. The man, however, gave her a pill and she became unconscious. She was then raped by him and two of his associates. They recorded her video and uploaded it on social media.” The complainant also stated that the accused were “blackmailing her to establish physical relations”.

She further told police that when the matter was taken up with the father of the accused, he started abusing and used casteist slur.

She was coerced into a white Scorpio car, accompanied by Sarvind and Chhote Khan. They took her to a remote area within Motijheel, where she was physically assaulted and raped. After regaining consciousness, she reported the incident at the local police station. Ramu and Sarvind have been arrested, while Chhote Khan is still at large.
