Dalit engineer beaten up in Gujarat, partner badly beaten on suspicion of diesel theft
The engineer’s colleagues have accused him of theft. It is alleged that fellow employee Bharat Thakor abused him and beat him.
DNA Hindi: In Banaskantha district of Gujarat, an engineer from Dalit community was beaten badly by his colleagues on suspicion of diesel theft. Five people together beat the engineer badly. The engineer works in a construction company.
On September 28, his colleagues came to meet the 25-year-old engineer at his home. They took him out in the car on the pretext of a fellow employee’s birthday party at a hotel. They stopped the car on a bridge and accused him of stealing diesel.
Beaten badly on suspicion of diesel theft
He said that fellow employee Bharat Thakor had seen him stealing. They allegedly hurled caste-related abuses at the Dalit man and beat him severely. The engineer was beaten so badly by the people that his leg got fractured. Engineering has suffered serious injuries. He is undergoing treatment in a hospital.
What is the reaction of Congress?
Congress Scheduled Caste (SC) Cell President Hitendra Pithadia said that incidents of atrocities on Dalits are increasing in Gujarat. Antisocial elements have no fear of law. According to the police, a case has been registered against the accused. The entire incident is being investigated.
