CRPF DIG dismissed from service in case of sexual harassment of women personnel
Central Reserve Police Force Deputy Inspector General Khajan Singh was accused by a constable in the year 2021 of sexual harassment, rape, blackmailing and threatening her and other women constables for several years. Singh was found guilty in an internal investigation of CRPF.
New Delhi: The Center on Thursday (May 30) dismissed Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Deputy Inspector General Khajan Singh from service in the sexual harassment case of two women personnel of the paramilitary force.
According to the news of The Scroll, Khajan Singh was working as the Chief Sports Officer of the Central Reserve Police Force when he was accused of sexually harassing two women in the year 2021. It is known that Khajan Singh is a former national swimming champion and was awarded the Arjuna Award in 1984. He won the silver medal in the 200m butterfly event at the 1986 Seoul Asian Games.
According to a report by news agency PTI, Singh was suspended from service by the CRPF in 2021 after allegations of sexual harassment were made. However, Singh then denied these allegations, calling them ‘absolutely false’.
The office of President Draupadi Murmu on Thursday issued an order dismissing him from service, which came into effect from Friday (May 31). This comes after the Central Reserve Police Force issued two show-cause notices to Singh in recent months.
It is known that Singh was found guilty in an internal inquiry initiated by the Central Reserve Police Force. Based on the findings of which, the Union Public Service Commission had recommended the dismissal of Singh to the Union Home Ministry. These notices were issued to Singh after the ministry accepted it.
The Wire had reported in a report that in 2021, a constable of the Central Reserve Police Force accused Singh of sexual harassment, rape and threatening her and other female constables for several years.
The constable had alleged that Singh used his position, power and support of other instructors and officers in the paramilitary force to commit his crimes. It is worth mentioning that the FIR also alleged that Khajan Singh and his associate Surjeet Singh, both run a sex scandal within the CRPF and have many accomplices. They sexually harass the woman constable.
The constable had also accused the officers of secretly filming her and blackmailing her with her photographs. She had also said that she had made an official complaint to the Inspector General (CRPF) in 2014 but the accused forced her to withdraw the complaint.
