UP Congress has not decided the program of going to Dalit settlements and giving the message of Congress to stay with them without any reason. The occasion may be the death anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram, but the reason behind this is the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Dalits traditionally used to be Congress voters. But after the BSP came into existence, the Dalit voter in UP broke away from Congress and went to BSP. For almost 3 decades, this voter used to vote for Congress only occasionally. But in the year 2024, Dalit voters not only came to the Congress but also voted for the SP because of the alliance.

The Dalit voters showed as much trust in the Congress this time, as much benefit SP did not get even after allying with BSP in the last Lok Sabha elections. Congress is excited by this change, so it wants to retain the Dalit voters who have returned again at any cost. This is the reason why Congress has started this program of reaching Dalit settlements on the death anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram, the great flag bearer of social justice. Apart from the state officials, party workers have been instructed to reach Dalit settlements and unplanned colonies. Tell them the policies of the party and give them the message of the party’s priorities by having a meal with them.

More events will be held in the coming time

The campaign to connect Dalits with the party is not limited to this only. More such events will be held in the coming time. Congress will not only give many messages to keep the Dalits with itself, but is also planning to organize such programs, so that more Dalit voters join it. Before the 2017 elections, the Congress had organized a Dalit Chetna Sammelan in the state Congress office, in which the current Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi had come. The Congress is also considering organizing such a conference before the 2027 elections.
