Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Tuesday termed the Congress party as anti-reservation and alleged that the policy of Congress and Rahul Gandhi regarding reservation for Dalits and backward classes is deceitful.

The BSP chief on Tuesday attacked the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and his party Congress in a series of posts on the social media platform “X”.

Mayawati said in her post that the policy of Congress and Rahul Gandhi regarding reservation for Dalits and backward classes is deceitful. She said that there is no clarity in the policy of Congress and Rahul Gandhi regarding reservation.

The former Chief Minister said, “In the country, for the sake of votes, these people support reservation, advocate increasing it above 50 percent, but abroad these people talk about ending reservation. People should be aware of their double standards.” Mayawati said that her government at the centre did not implement the Mandal Commission’s report on OBC reservation. She said, “Congress did not even allow the Constitution Amendment Bill, which was brought in Parliament after BSP’s struggle for reservation in promotion for SC/ST, to be passed and it is still pending.” BSP chief raised the question, “People should be cautious of anti-reservation Congress and other parties. Congress government did not conduct caste census while it was in the centre and now raising voice for it when it is out of power…., if all this is not hypocrisy then what is it?”
