Cong known for insulting Constitution, says BJP SC Morcha, condemns RaGa’s say on reservation
Bhopal: National general secretary of the BJP Scheduled Castes’ Morcha, Shambhunath Tundiya, said here on Sunday that the Congress and its leaders have misused the constitution and its provisions in their interest over the years. He further said that the Congress is known for ‘insulting’ the constitution and Dalits, and the statement of its leader Rahul Gandhi in the USA on reservation should be interpreted in this light only. On the other hand, the Congress hit back at rival BJP over the issue and said it reflects “Rahul phobia” gripping the BJP and its leaders.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state headquarters, Tundiya said that the BJP SC Morcha condemns Rahul Gandhi’s statement on reservation and would go to every nook and corner of MP to let the people know about it.
He further said that the Congress ruled the country for 57 years, but during this period it never implemented the constitutional provision of reservation in letter and spirit. The first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, had rejected the Kaka Kalelkar report in 1956 recommending reservation for the OBCs. The Congress also worked to cut short the political life of Dr Ambedkar by defeating him in the polls.
Tundiya and state president of the Morcha, Kailash Jatav, along with office-bearers and workers of BJP’s Anusuchit Jati Morcha, also garlanded the statue of Dr Ambedkar at the Board Office square and held a demonstration to protest over Rahul Gandhi’s statement on reservation in the USA.
Former minister Surendra Chaudhary, in a statement, referred to central minister Dr Virendra Kumar’s statement in Sagar and said that the BJP has developed “Rahul phobia” and therefore its leaders are twisting Rahul Gandhi’s statement on reservation and presenting it out of context. He said that the Congress and Rahul Gandhi are committed to safeguarding the Indian constitution and its core values.
He said Virendra Kumar, instead of raising questions over the intentions of Rahul Gandhi, should rather answer why the economic advisor to the PM, Dr Vivek Debroy, wrote before the general election for a change of constitution or why a constitution review commission was formed during the tenure of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the PM. He said that the BJP was in a state of panic over the rising popularity graph of Rahul Gandhi and was trying to malign his image by propagating “lies” in his name.
