Coming up: Spl clinic for transgenders
Lucknow: To provide quick and better health services to transgenders, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) will start a dedicated Multidisciplinary Transgender Clinic soon.
The clinic will provide comprehensive medical care to transgender people, including mental health services, surgeries, and hormonal therapies.
The decision to start the clinic was made following an awareness workshop on medical issues of transgender organized by SGPGIMS in collaboration with YRG Care, a non-profit organization that works with transgender people.
Speaking at the workshop, Prof RK Dhiman, director, SGPGI, said that the clinic will help to address the unique medical needs of transgender people and provide them with the care they deserve. Dr Rajnish Pandey, from YRG Care, said that the clinic is a welcome step and will make a significant difference in the lives of transgender people.

Odisha government takes steps to safeguard transgender rights in colleges, varsitiesThe state government of Bhubaneswar has instructed degree colleges and universities to establish monitoring committee cells at educational institutions to address issues related to prejudice, discrimination, sexual abuse, and violence against transgender individuals. They have also urged the institutions to provide gender-neutral facilities and ensure the welfare of transgender individuals. The National Human Rights Commission has issued guidelines to facilitate access to education for transgender individuals and called for the establishment of antidiscrimination cells and monitoring committees within educational institutions.
