Children go to school on shoulders, marriage breaks up on hearing the name, neither road nor bridge in Mahadalit village
Bihar is always in the news in the country for some reason or the other. Be it political reason or something else, but this time the reason for discussion is very strange. Baruatta village is situated just 5 kilometers away from the district headquarters of Jamui, Bihar. Where young boys do not get married. It is not that no one has ever got married in this village. Marriage has taken place, but only after a lot of respect or hard work, boys can get married here. The main reason for marriages not happening here is said to be the lack of basic facilities like roads in this village.
Why doesn’t marriage happen?
Ward number 5 of Baruatta village is a colony of Mahadalits. About 50 families live in this colony. The biggest problem of this village is that there is no road to reach the houses of Dalits. During the rainy season, life of the people here becomes difficult. People here survive in knee-deep water for 6 months of the year. There are so many problems in the village that children born here become accustomed to conflicts from the day they are born. After all, which father would want to marry his daughter among these people who are living their life with so many problems.
Children are carried to school on their shoulders
There is a government school in the middle of the village. During the rainy season, the village gets filled with so much water that the children have to be carried on their shoulders to school. Villager Shantanu Pandey says that he is ready to give the land required to build a road in this village. But no representative of the area ever takes any initiative and what we say has never had any impact. Despite asking the MP several times, no hearing has taken place regarding this road.
Delivery has to be done in the village itself
Due to the roads being filled with water during the rainy season, women in this village have to give birth in the village itself. The people of this village are very backward even in this era. Even today they are not getting the benefits of any government scheme. The Dalits of this village are deprived of even their basic facilities. No matter how big an economy we become, this is also a picture of our country. Baruatta is a village in Bihar. There will be many such places in the country, which are deprived of their basic rights and facilities even today in this era of digitalization and many pomp and show.
