Child Rights Commission files case against Headmistress for cutting Dalit student’s hair in school assembly
Kasaragod: The headmistress of ,Kottamala Mar Gregorios Memorial UP School in Chittarikkal has been charged , for cutting the hair of a Dalit student in a school assembly .
The Child Rights Commission, concerned about the welfare of the student, has filed a case in the matter and has demanded a report from the Chittarikal Station House Officer (SHO) and the District Deputy Education Officer (DDE). These actions come in addition to the case already registered by the police against the headmistress.
The incident unfolded during assembly time in front of other students and teachers on October 19. In response to a complaint filed by the concerned parent, a case was registered against the headmistress, Shirley.
The charges brought against the headmistress, Shirley, includes violations of the Prevention of Atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Tribes and the Child Rights Act.
