“Case of Alleged Sexual Abuse of Dalit Women”
Chandigarh, In response to the disturbing incidents of alleged sexual harassment of Dalit women in Sandeshkhali, Paramjit Singh Kainth, Vice-president of Bharatiya Janata Party Scheduled Caste Morcha Punjab, stated, “The National Scheduled Castes Commission has submitted its report on rape, exploitation, and the purported sexual exploitation of Dalit women in West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali to President Darapati Murmu, urging immediate action.”
Mr. Kainth highlighted that under the governance of the Trinamool Congress and its political leaders, the government has engaged in egregious acts of terror, thuggery, oppression, looting, rape, forcible land occupation, and the oppression of women, creating an atmosphere of fear among the affected population. He further said, “that the social, economic, and political interests of the SC community have been severely compromised, and we are seeing instances where Trinamool Congress leader ShahJahan Sheikh and his supporters allegedly occupied land and perpetrated acts of molestation and sexual abuse”.
Recent reports from the National Scheduled Caste Commission have brought to light the gravity of alleged atrocities and violence against the Scheduled Caste community during a visit to Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district of Bengal. In response, Mr. Kainth called for the imposition of President’s Rule under Article 338 of the Constitution, citing the failure of the Trinamool Congress-led government to maintain law and order. He further demanded decisive action against those responsible for the reported molestation, sexual exploitation, and other atrocities. Mr. Kainth expressed concern over the Trinamool Congress government’s alleged negligence towards the 21.51 percent Scheduled Castes population in West Bengal, citing a chaotic environment marked by looting, extortion, exploitation, and purported sexual exploitation of Dalit women.
In the face of anarchy, political protection for anti-social elements, and the prevalence of criminal elements, Mr. Kainth called upon Scheduled Caste organizations to unite against the rule of the Trinamool Congress in Bengal. He appealed for a collective voice to address and combat atrocities, oppression, looting, murder, and the suppression of Dalits.
