Both parties on same side to champion Dalit cause: Radhika Apte on the ongoing Yashica Dutt’s credit claim debate with Made In Heaven 2 makers
Made In Heaven 2 has been one of the most awaited series after the success of its first season back in 2018. MIH2, released on August 10, opened to massive appreciation but along with the success came the brickbats. Claims were made by renowned Dalit author Yashica Dutt over credits misappropriation. Dutt asserted that the 5th episode of the series titled The Heart Skipped A Beat, which showed the story of a Dalit author, Pallavi Menke, was inspired from her life, but she didn’t get any credits from the makers.

Intially, the ep director Neeraj Ghayawan along with MIH 2 makers issues a long post clarification, stating that the story is not based on Dutt’s life but a generic viewpoint to Dalits life and struggles. Now, Radhika Apte, who played the role of Menke, expressed her views about the ongoing debate.
“I strongly feel that no matter what both the parties are talking about and feeling, I know for a fact that neither of them want the good effects or the good consequences of this episode to be diminished even for a minute. They both are on the same side when it comes to championing the cause and saying that it is a great thing that an episode about this issue has come on a mainstream platform, and it shouldn’t be canceled or should be banned. It should be only looked at positively. We are all on the same side in the end,” asserted Apte, in a recent interview.
Directed by Zoya Akhtar, Alankrita Shrivastava, Neeraj Ghaywan, Nitya Mehra, and Reema Kagti, Made In Heaven 2 is a seven-episode long series which showcases the journey of wedding planners and the shaadis they make happen, against the socio-cultural backdrop.
