BJP trying to end quota, Cong won’t let it happen: Rahul
Rohtak: Upping the ante against BJP, LoP in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said the saffron party is trying to change the Constitution by abolishing the quota system but Congress remains committed to protecting it at all costs.
Rahul was addressing a rally at Sector 15 in Gohana near Sonipat. He was accompanied by state Congress chief Chaudhary Udaibhan and five-time MP Deepender Singh Hooda during his Haryana Vijay Sankalp Yatra.
Hooda said, “Rahul Gandhi has fearlessly fought against the dictatorial govt of BJP in the last 10 years. He stood firmly against the dictatorial forces whenever there was an attack on farmers, workers and the Constitution. He saved Ambedkar’s Constitution by deflating BJP’s ‘400 paar’ slogan during the Lok Sabha elections. He will do the same in Haryana polls.”
Showing a copy of the Constitution, Rahul said, “Whatever the poor have got today is a gift of this Constitution, but the BJP is trying to end the reservation of dalits and backward classes that it enshrines. The BJP govt waived the loans of rich industrialists, introduced the now-repealed farm laws to benefit private companies and is now attacking the Constitution. The Congress party wants to change all this.”
“This election is a direct fight between BJP and Congress,” Rahul said, adding, “People will reject BJP’s B and C-teams and independents. The BJP and RSS do not have the strength to face Congress.”
Accusing BJP of turning the state into a hub of unemployment, Rahul said, “This is the reason for the rise in crime here. Criminals demanding Rs 2 crore ransom from Maturam Halwai is a case in point. The UPA govt gave its nod to the Gohana rail coach factory, but it was snatched away by the BJP govt. As a result, jobs were lost. The people of Haryana will never forget this.”
Rahul said he met a youth from Haryana in the US who told him that on the one hand there is high inflation in the state, and on the other it is seeing record unemployment. “The youth sell their farms here, spend lakhs and reach America illegally through the jungles of Panama, risking their lives. Many such youths even die on the way,” he added.
Rahul further said he met small-time shopkeepers and businessmen on the way, who told him the BJP govt has ruined business by bringing demonetisation and GST. The govt is being run only for two or three industrialists, he alleged.
Rahul said the BJP govt first shut down small and medium industries, and then closed avenues for the youth to join the Army by bringing the Agnipath scheme.
