BJP attacks opposition unity, makes ‘Emergency’ an issue to weaken Congress
Patna. Bihar State BJP President Samrat Chowdhary has said that the new generation will have to be told about the emergency, otherwise they will not know what has happened in this country. Such a government had come in the country which had taken away the rights of the people through emergency. He was denied the right to speak and write. Sushil Modi says that people will never forgive those who imposed Emergency on the country.
Actually, this is a new strategy of BJP to weaken Congress, the biggest party involved in opposition unity. The party wants to tell the people that when the Congress government imposed emergency in the country, people like Lalu Yadav and Nitish Kumar were against the central government. Mamta Banerjee talked about holding a meeting of opposition unity in Patna, the capital of Bihar, because the big battle for change of power in the country started from Patna itself. But today Modi, who is attacking each other, is trying to show unity in the name of protest. It means that the talk of opposition unity is hollow. This is a meeting of selfish people who want to come to power anyhow.
In the Prabuddha Sammelan organized at Vidyapati Bhavan on Sunday, the State President spoke on the struggle of Emergency, that period of Emergency and the values of democracy. During this, he bowed down to all those Satyagrahis who, despite facing severe tortures, opposed the Emergency and preserved the faith of democratic values. MP Sushil Kumar Modi said that during the Emergency in 1975, the Congress took away the fundamental rights of the people and crushed democracy. Even today the Emergency is recorded as a black chapter in the history of the country. He recalled his struggles during the Emergency.
Sushil Modi issued a statement in Patna and also said that 48 years ago, the Congress which declared emergency in the country to save its power, put leaders like JP, Charan Singh, Atalji and more than one lakh political workers in jail. closed indefinitely. Press censorship was imposed. BJP and Congress workers were tortured by the Trinamool Congress during nominations for the Panchayat elections in Bengal. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan had to sit on a dharna and had to go to the High Court for the deputation of central forces, but no leader of the party involved in the opposition unity has so far condemned the Bengal violence. The public will not forgive the Congress and the leaders who supported it for imposing Emergency in the country.
Here, former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad also termed the emergency as arbitrary of the Congress government and said that on June 25, 1975, internal emergency was imposed for the first time in India. All civil rights were taken away by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. No appeal, no argument, no hearing, no action against those who were closed. A book written by Sushil Kumar Modi ‘Aapatkal Ke Ve Khauf Bhare Din’ was also released at the function.
