Bhadohi News: Life imprisonment to four for gang rape and Dalit harassment
Gyanpur. The court of Special Judge SC ST Asad Ahmed Hashmi sentenced four convicts to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 each in the gang rape case. Three years ago, the married woman was forced to leave the house. The court has ordered the victim to pay Rs 1 lakh as fine.
According to the prosecution, a youth resident of a village in Koirauna police station area lodged a complaint in the police station on October 3, 2020 that on October 2, his wife had come to Gopiganj to withdraw money from the bank. While returning home, he met his friends Dhananjay Shukla and Tinku alias Ajay Shukla near Rajput Dhaba. He told his wife to sit on the bike and drop him home.
They went to his village, Raipur, Jamuna, Pokhara. There his wife was raped by Dhananjay Kumar Shukla, Tinku Shukla, Sonu Upadhyay while Vikas Kumar Shukla resident of Raipur cooperated. The police registered a case against all four under the SC/ST Act and gang rape and sent the charge sheet to the court.
After hearing the arguments and debates from both sides, the court found all four guilty. Judge Asad Ahmed Hashmi sentenced Dhananjay Shukla, Tinku Shukla, Sonu Upadhyay and Vikas Shukla to 20-20 years rigorous imprisonment and Rs 25,000 fine for gang rape, while in SCST, they were sentenced to life imprisonment with a fine of Rs 25,000 each. Special Public Prosecutor Anil Shukla appeared for the prosecution.
