Bageshwar Dham Sarkar’s brother booked for creating ruckus at Dalit wedding

Bhopal: After a video went viral, a case has been registered against the brother of Dhirendra Krishna Shastri – also known as Bageshwar Dham Sarkar, whose supporters believe that he has divine powers and that he can heal sick and treat people possessed by evil spirits — on charges of harassing and threatening a Dalit family earlier this month.
SP Chhattarpur, Sachin Sharma said, “A case has been registered under relevant sections of IPC and also under relevant provisions of the SC & ST (prevention of atrocity) Act”.
A video has gone viral in social media earlier last week, showing an armed youth abusing and intimidating a family at a wedding venue in Chhatarpur district. The person in the purported video was alleged to be the younger brother of Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, named Saurabh Garg alias Shaligram Garg. The video was of a marriage ceremony of the daughter of Kallu Ahirwar, a resident of Garha village held on February 11.
Sources said that Kallu Ahirawar initially applied for the marriage of his daughter at Bageshwar Dham’s mass marriage programme but later decided to solemnise the marriage separately at home. And on February 11, Saurabh Garh along with other people reached the marriage venue and created ruckus, added sources. Video of the incident later went viral on social media, sources said.
