New Delhi: The BJP targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav and said that ever since the political power of ‘two boys’ has increased, the morale of criminals in Uttar Pradesh has increased. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, in a press conference here, accused the SP of sheltering criminals and targeted the Yadav-led party over the arrest of two people associated with it on charges of rape and attempted rape.
‘People associated with two boys have been committing crimes’
He said that while the SP is ‘protecting’ the criminals, the members of the opposition ‘India’ alliance are also helping each other in protecting the criminal elements of their alliance partners. Trivedi said, “People associated with two boys have been committing crimes. The audacity of criminals is increasing since the power of these two boys has increased. It is known that after the alliance between Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for the 2017 assembly elections in the state, the duo became famous as ‘UP Ke Do Ladka’. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, the SP and Congress alliance in Uttar Pradesh performed better than the BJP-led NDA.
Taunt on demand for DNA test
He took a dig at the SP’s demand for DNA test to prove the guilt of the accused in a case and said that standing with criminals is in the ‘DNA’ of Yadav’s party. The BJP leader also targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her stance that if the local police did not solve the case by Sunday, she would hand over the case of rape and murder of a doctor at a government hospital in Kolkata to the CBI.
Question on Priyanka’s silence
Demanding immediate transfer of the case to CBI, Trivedi questioned whether so much time is being given so that the case can be manipulated. Questioning the ‘silence’ of opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi on these crimes, he said that the constituent parties of the opposition alliance ‘India’ are working to cover up such criminal cases.
