Agreement between BYST and Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce to teach business skills to Dalit entrepreneurs
New Delhi, (Language) NGO Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST) and industry body Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry have signed an agreement to provide credit support, training and mentorship to Dalit-led small and medium enterprises. Through this partnership, BYST and Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI) will provide mentorship to 1000 Dalit young entrepreneurs. These youth will be given mentorship and knowledge about entrepreneurship, customer relations, project preparation and sales skills etc.
According to the statement, “BYST and Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry have signed an MoU here on Friday to help 5,000 Dalit entrepreneurs become employment creators by empowering them economically. Of these targeted entrepreneurs, 20 percent will be Dalit women. Under this partnership, credit support, training and mentorship will be provided to Dalit-led small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
This free training program… ‘Entrepreneur Online Learning’… will run for two-three days. This will help them improve their ideas and convert them into concrete business plans. BYST and DICCI will also provide credit facilities and counseling support to 250 Dalit youth with an average loan of Rs 4 lakh per person for easily setting up and running a business.”
Lakshmi Venkatraman Venkatesan, founder and managing trustee of the Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust, said, “The Dalit community faces hurdles in finding high-paying jobs and professional opportunities. Difficulties such as limited access to capital, resources and mentorship support persist, hindering their success. “This partnership solidifies our commitment to empower Dalit entrepreneurship in India.”
