A student resident of a hostel in Karnataka’s Kalburgi district organized an ‘Ambedkar Puja’ in memory of BR Ambedkar. The student refused to participate in the event. Chaos ensued in the hostel due to this complaint.

The student was forced to parade half-naked through the city with a portrait of BR Ambedkar on his head. The police started an investigation by filing a complaint against 15-20 students of the hostel. Several cases were filed under Sections 341 (unwarranted control), 504 (intentional insult with intent to breach the peace), 323 (intentionally causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 505 (2).
