Cleric arrested for sexually abusing Dalit woman
Gonda, Nov 18 (PTI) Police on Friday arrested a cleric in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh after registering an FIR against him for allegedly sexually abusing a Dalit woman for several months in the name of exorcism. The police informed about this.

Superintendent of Police Akash Tomar said that a Scheduled Caste woman, a resident of Kanshiram Colony under Police Station Kotwali Nagar area, had complained to the police that her neighbor Mohammad Zainul Abedin, an exorcist, was sexually abusing her for about six months.
According to the complaint, Zainul also misbehaved with the woman’s 14-year-old daughter by calling her to his house on the pretext of cooking food. It states that he used to torture Zainul’s son too when he opposed it.
He told that on Thursday night Zainul forcibly entered the woman’s house and started fighting. Meanwhile, the people of the neighborhood reached the spot, thrashed him and handed him over to the police.
Tomar said that on the complaint of the victim woman, Section 376, 304, 354, 323, 504, 506, 452 of the Indian Penal Code, Section 7/8 of the Poxo Act and Section 3(2)5 of the SC ST Act have been registered against Zainul. FIR has been registered under.
