Sex Change: Transgender will be able to get free sex change, free treatment up to five lakhs annually under ‘Ayushman’
The central government has announced to give the benefit of Ayushman Bharat scheme to the people belonging to the transgender community. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the National Health Authority (NHA) and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
The government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a big decision regarding the transgender community. Soon transgenders will be able to undergo free sex reassignment surgery. Presently this surgery is not free in any hospital in the country.
On Wednesday, the central government has announced to give the benefit of Ayushman Bharat scheme to the people belonging to the transgender community. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the National Health Authority (NHA) and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Change in the definition of family
In the program organized at Dr. Ambedkar International Center in New Delhi, Dr. Mandaviya said, Ayushman scheme is for families but this society is not related to family. That’s why we have changed the definition of family to provide insurance of five lakhs to the transgender society. 4.80 lakh transgenders are registered in the country.
Gender change package is being prepared
NHA CEO Dr. RS Sharma informed that transgender will get the benefit of more than 1200 packages of Ayushman Bharat. Along with this, they will also be able to change gender. A health package related to this will be announced. Work is going on on this.
The logo of each state’s scheme will also be on the Ayushman card.
On the beneficiary card of Ayushman Bharat scheme, you will now see the logo of the health scheme of the central as well as the state government. There was a dispute between the central and state governments for a long time regarding the branding on the Ayushman card, due to which the ministry decided to make this change with the consent of all. Dr. Mandaviya told that now both the central and state key will be visible on the branding card. So far 31 out of 33 states have agreed to this. Of these, changes are being made on the cards of the beneficiaries in 29 states.
