Four get life term for gang-raping Dalit girl
Meerut: A special SC/ST court has sentenced four youths to life imprisonment for gang-raping a woman in her early 20s in 2018. The court has also slapped a fine of over Rs 30,000 each on the accused while pronouncing the verdict in Saharanpur.
According to victim’s lawyer, Swaraj Singh, “The incident took place on November 8, 2018, when the woman boarded an auto which already had 4-5 male occupants. Auto driver, Wasim, who was known to the victim, persuaded her to get into the three-wheeler enroute to clock tower in Saharanpur. After a while, Wasim took a different route leading to a secluded area near Kansi Ram colony on the pretext of dropping the youths, identified as Mustafa Ahmad, Taukeer, Mohd Tasleem and Waseem, first. The four then gang-raped the woman.”
According to additional district govt counsel, Nirdosh Singh, “The court has awarded life sentence to the accused apart from slapping a fine of Rs 31,500 on each of them.”
