Film asst director booked for raping Dalit woman
Hyderabad: Jubilee Hills police registered a case against an assistant film director for allegedly cheating and raping a married woman belonging to Dalit community by promising to marry her.
The accused director allegedly dumped the woman, who is in her mid-30s and working as a junior artiste in Telugu films, and married another woman of his family’s choice. Investigators said the case is under investigation. The accused is on the run.
Police said the woman, who separated from her husband, shifted to the city along with her eight-year-old son. While working as a junior artiste, she got acquainted with the accused, and they became close. He proposed to marry her and assured her that he would take care of her son. Believing him, the woman applied for divorce from her husband and started living with the accused.
During this period, he had sexual relationship with her, police said. However, he abandoned her for another woman and married her.
