Two transgender groups clash over money collection in Sanigawan area
Kanpur: A fierce clash broke out between two groups of transgender individuals over a collection dispute in the Sanigawan area of the Chakeri police station on Wednesday night. Both sides engaged in intense fighting, stone-pelting, and several rounds of gunfire.
They also used sticks, rods and knives. Four people were reported injured in the incident, and the police are treating them at Kanshiram Hospital.
The bout was captured on CCTV camera. When police arrived on the spot, they also got into a scuffle with them. One of the accused tried to flee, but was caught by Sanigwan outpost in-charge Amit Khatana along with the car. The other accused managed to escape. After the incident, the victim’s side filed a complaint at the Chakeri police station.
Roli Gudiya, a transgender resident of Kanshiram Colony in Sanigawan, told police that Neelam Nayak, a transgender from Naubasta, comes to their area with her people to collect money. There have been several disputes over this issue in the past. On Wednesday night, while she was travelling by car, Neelam Nayak and others, including Vinita Yadav, Kajal Naina, Muskan, Munni, Pratibha, Rajni, Chahak, Nancy, Priya, Khushi, and Rinki, along with about twenty unidentified people, ambushed her near the Vishwakarma temple.
The accused then assaulted her and threw stones, firing about 15 rounds. Fortunately, no one was hit by the bullets. Roli Gudiya told the police that the accused attempted to kill her by stabbing her in the stomach. It is alleged that the accused also looted cash and gold jewellery worth around five lakh rupees from her.
Roli Gudiya is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital, while the other three injured at Kanshiram Hospital. Inspector-in-charge Ashok Kumar Dubey said that a case has been registered based on the complaint, and action will be taken.
