Valmiki Ashram’s Dalit caretaker beaten to death in Bulandshahr
Meerut: A 26-year-old Dalit caretaker of Valmiki Ashram in Khurja was killed while he was sleeping inside the ashram in Bulandshahr. Police on Wednesday said his head and face were repeatedly smashed with a brick, which was recovered from the scene.
Khurja SHO Rajpal Tomar said, “An FIR against an unidentified person has been lodged under BNS section 103 (murder). We have also recovered a blood-soaked brick from the spot. The motive behind the murder is still unclear, and we are investigating the case. Rajat Valmiki’s body has been sent for an autopsy, and we are awaiting the report.”
The incident sparked outrage among the Dalit community, with members staging a protest and blocking the Khurja main road. Soni Pradhan, head of the Valmiki Samaj, said, “Rajat was like a son to us. His murder has left our entire community in anger and grief. We demand swift action from the police and they have assured us that the culprit will be arrested soon.”
