Gonda News: 10 years imprisonment to the accused of raping a Dalit girl
Gonda. The court has sentenced the accused guilty of raping a minor girl, threatening to kill her and POCSO Act to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 21,000.
A Dalit woman of Dhanepur area filed a case in the police station on 30 May 2017. It said that Amarnath Verma, resident of village Rajapur, has been raping her 14-year-old minor daughter for six months by threatening to kill her. During this time she became pregnant. On getting strong evidence of the crime in the investigation, the police filed a chargesheet against the accused in the court. On the basis of evidence of the crime in the trial, the court convicted the accused.
On Friday, Additional District and Sessions Judge (FTC Naveen) and Special Judge (Rape and POCSO Act) Namrata Agarwal punished the guilty accused Amarnath Verma. As per the court order, half the amount of the imposed fine will be given to the victim as compensation.
