Nana Patole accuses BJP of spreading lies about minority reservations and misinterpreting Rahul Gandhi’s actions
Nagpur: State Congress president Nana Patole said the BJP is spreading lies about the book which Rahul Gandhi carries while talking about the Constitution, and also about giving reservation to Muslims. Speaking at a rally in Akola for his party candidate Sajid Khan Pathan, Patole said BJP’s thought process stems from Manusmriti, and accused the BJP of wanting to keep people poor so that certain people can continue to rule.
Patole first took deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis head-on over his statements that Rahul Gandhi carried a red-coloured Constitution, which is symbolic of Naxalism. Patole said, “Red is a sacred colour in Hindu religion. But BJP thinks it is related to Naxalism. A newlywed woman wears a red saree, her kunkun is red, does that mean she is a Naxal? Somebody put some sense into Devendra Fadnavis, please.”
BJP leaders have also said that the book which Congress distributed was blank inside. Patole said, “The BJP says the book which was in Rahul Gandhi’s hand was blank inside. Well, this is the exact copy of the book given to former President Kovind by PM Narendra Modi.”
On Sunday, Union minister Amit Shah said Congress will give reservations to Muslims at the cost of OBCs and Dalits. Patole said, “Shah is in power but has no idea about the Constitution. He is telling people in Maharashtra that Congress will give reservation to Muslims. These people don’t even know that reservation cannot be given on the basis of religion.”
On BJP’s campaign veering towards a rigid right-wing route, Patole said this is not what the Indian people want. Patole said, “BJP is saying ‘batenge toh katenge’, ‘ek hain toh safe hain’. This is not the vision of India which we desire. Here people of all faiths and beliefs live together in peace.”
