BJP & Congress’ Star Campaigners To Storm Citadel Maha Ahead Of Election
Nagpur: As Maharashtra heads towards assembly elections for its 288 constituencies, the BJP is deploying a formidable team of star campaigners, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers Amit Shah and Nitin Gadkari, deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, and numerous chief ministers from other states. The BJP has announced a roster of 40 prominent campaigners, reflecting the party’s high-stakes strategy, according to party sources.
Congress has orchestrated rallies of its distinguished leaders, including Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, president Mallikarjun Kharge, and Priyanka Gandhi in the state.
Rahul Gandhi will kickstart his Maharashtra poll campaign on Wednesday from Nagpur by attending the Samvidhan Sammelan event organized at city’s Suresh Bhatt Hall by various social organizations at 11 am.
PM Modi is slated to conduct 12-13 rallies across Maharashtra, with substantial gatherings planned in Gondia and Akola in Vidarbha. Alongside Modi, eminent leaders such as BJP president JP Nadda, home minister Shah, and defence minister Rajnath Singh shall strengthen the campaign. Additional campaigners include UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Goa CM Pramod Sawant, and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, highlighting BJP’s comprehensive approach.
BJP leaders from other states have been allocated responsibilities across Maharashtra’s districts. Madhya Pradesh (MP) cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya has been coordinating endeavours in Nagpur, conferring with local leaders and addressing organisational challenges. He oversees Nagpur’s 12 seats whilst camping in the city with approximately 100 BJP workers from MP, sources indicated.
Congress too has assembled its campaigners, including CMs from various Congress-governed states. Former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel accompanied Maharashtra leader of opposition Vijay Wadettiwar on the final day of form submission. Notable figures from both Shiv Sena and NCP factions, including CM Eknath Shinde, UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray, NCP patriarch Sharad Pawar and deputy CM Ajit Pawar are anticipated to visit Vidarbha region after the festival season.
With Diwali celebrations ending, vigorous campaigning is expected to intensify post-November 5, with rallies of senior leaders projected from November 10-18. This schedule reflects BJP and Congress’ strategic timing as both seek to consolidate support across Maharashtra, particularly in the crucial Vidarbha region.
