NSUI files FIR against Odia actor for ‘controversial’ comments on Rahul Gandhi
BHUBANESWAR: Members of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Odisha, the students’ wing of Congress, filed an FIR on Friday before the Capital police station here demanding action against Odia film actor Buddhaditya Mohanty for his ‘controversial’ comment on opposition leader Rahul Gandhi.
In his social media post, Mohanty said gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s next target should be Rahul Gandhi after killing former Maharashtra MLA Baba Siddique. It could not go down well with the NSUI members here. Later the actor deleted the post after hue and cry.
NSUI state president Udit Pradhan said Rahul Gandhi is the leader of opposition in the country. “If he instigates the gangster to kill the leader of opposition, we can say that he is a criminal. We demand stringent action against the actor for this criminal act,” he added.
Pradhan said the actor cannot say that it was his freedom of speech and expression. “He has been called as a spy of govt,” he added.
The actor in a latest post offered apologies for the earlier post.
