Agra: A 60-year-old teacher at a composite school in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district was suspended following allegations of molesting a 12-year-old Dalit girl student of class 8. The incident came to light after she informed her family, who filed a police complaint.
Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Rakesh Singh said, “The incident took place at a school in a rural area. The teacher was suspended and a departmental investigation is under way. If the allegations are proven true, the teacher’s services will be terminated.”
The girl’s brother said she returned home crying on the morning of Aug 13, after being molested by the teacher. The family confronted the school staff, which led to a ruckus. Police and BSA reached the scene.
“We registered a case under relevant sections, including the Pocso Act, BNS section 75 (whoever assaults or uses criminal force to any woman) and SC/ST Act against the teacher, who is absconding. Efforts are on to nab him,” SHO Narendra Kumar Sharma said.
