Mohammad Yunus has given a statement on Sheikh Hasina’s stay in India
Dhaka: Dr. Mohammad Yunus, who became the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, has given a statement on former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s stay in India. In an interview given to NDTV before reaching Bangladesh to take oath, he said that it is not appropriate for Sheikh Hasina to stay in India. Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin administered the oath to Yunus and members of the interim government on Thursday. Earlier, after weeks of fierce protests by students, Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and fled the country. After Hasina left the country, there has been large-scale violence in Bangladesh, in which minority Hindus have been specifically targeted.
After leaving Bangladesh, 76-year-old Sheikh Hasina reached the Indian Air Force’s Hindon Airbase in Ghaziabad near Delhi with her younger sister Sheikh Rihanna. According to the report, Sheikh Hasina is currently living in a safe place in India. According to reports, Sheikh Hasina may extend her stay in India, as there is an obstacle in her way to go and take refuge in Britain. According to the report, Britain has refused to give asylum directly and has asked to apply for it under the rules.
Sheikh Hasina will return to Bangladesh
Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, who lives in Washington, has said that his mother will return to her country as soon as democracy is restored in Bangladesh. He also said that Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI is behind the violence in Bangladesh. In an exclusive interview with PTI-Bhasha on Thursday, Joy said that Hasina will definitely return to Bangladesh, although it is not yet decided whether she will return as a retired leader or an active leader. He also said that the family members of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will neither leave their people nor leave the troubled Awami League helpless.
Joy expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government for the safety of his mother and appealed to India to help form international opinion and press for the restoration of democracy in Bangladesh. He said, ‘Yes, it is true that I said that she will not return to Bangladesh. But a lot has changed in the last two days after the continuous attacks on our leaders and party workers across the country. We are going to do whatever we have to do now to keep our people safe. We will not leave them alone.’
