UP Deputy CM Maurya Accuses SP Chief of Anti-Backward and Dalit Stance
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya of Uttar Pradesh has criticized Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav for allegedly being against backward communities and Dalits. Maurya also termed the SP’s PDA alliance a fraud, accusing Akhilesh of thwarting PM Modi’s potential third term.
On Friday, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya heavily criticized Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, alleging that he has consistently opposed backward communities and Dalits. ‘Akhilesh Yadav has always been against backwards and Dalits. He himself is a pawn of Congress,’ Maurya remarked to reporters.
Maurya further claimed that the SP’s PDA (Pichrde Dalits Alpsankhyak) alliance is fraudulent. ‘The SP chief @yadavakhilesh and his family are staunch opponents of the backward classes and the Dalits. SP’s PDA is a big fraud. The Congress pawn @yadavakhilesh, playing into foreign powers’ hands, left no stone unturned to prevent Prime Minister @narendramodi from securing a third term,’ Maurya posted on X.
Earlier, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav addressed a press conference, calling Maurya a ‘Mohra.’ ‘They (BJP) have spoiled every system. Every system and every department has been ruined. I heard that Maurya ji is ‘Mohra’. He is the password of Delhi’s WiFi. Tell me, will the government run like this?…UP will not run like this. They have cheated the people of UP,’ asserted Yadav.
‘We are Samajwadi Mohre. We are Mohre of the poor,’ Yadav continued. He also officiated the unveiling of the ‘Samvidhan Manastambh,’ housing a copy of the Constitution at the Samajwadi Party headquarters in Lucknow.
Back in July, Yadav’s post on X announced a ‘Monsoon Offer,’ urging dissidents to bring a hundred MLAs to form a government in Uttar Pradesh. ‘Monsoon Offer: Bring a hundred, form the government!’ the post read. Maurya derisively dubbed it ‘Mungerilal ke haseen sapne,’ a reference to a delusional TV character.
Responding on X, Maurya suggested that the public and karyakartas would ‘wrap up the Monsoon Offer at 47’ by 2027. ‘A sinking ship and a dying party, whose both present and future are in danger. He may see ‘Mungerilal ke haseen sapne,’ but they cannot be fulfilled,’ stated Maurya.
Earlier, a post from Maurya’s office had caused speculation about dissent within the BJP. ‘The organisation is bigger than the government; the pain of the workers is my pain. No one is bigger than the organisation; the workers are the pride,’ the post read. Akhilesh Yadav alleged that BJP’s internal power struggles overshadowed public concerns.
In the 2017 state assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party secured only 47 seats, while the BJP won 312 seats with over 40 per cent vote share. The next legislative assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh are due in 2027.
