UP man stripped, tied to tree & beaten up for ‘stealing wood’
LUCKNOW: A 20-year-old man accused of stealing wood was stripped, tied to a tree, and beaten black and blue in Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh.
A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.
Sunil Sonkar from Devanandpur area allegedly stole wood from a person’s house in Hardaspur village two days ago, so as to sell it, police officers said. “Some people caught Sunil red-handed stealing the wood. They tied him to a tree and beat him severely. He pleaded with them to let him go, but they continued beating him,” a police officer said.
Locals notified the cops following which a police team reached the spot and rescued the youth.
Sanjay Kumar Singh of Mill Area police station said they registered a case against Shriram Pasi and Raju Pasi, both residents of Hardaspur village, and other unidentified people based on the victim’s complaint.
