Uttarakhand – Dalit girl gangraped in Dwarahat village: Accused arrested, villagers angry
A case of gangrape of a Dalit girl after drugging her has come to light in a village in Dwarahat development block of Uttarakhand. This incident has shaken the entire area, and there is huge anger among the villagers. Details of the incidentThe incident took place on Friday night, when a family puja (jagar) was being organized in the village. During the puja, a girl went home to get her mobile charger. When she did not return for a long time, the girl’s relatives reached her house to look for her. There they found her in an unconscious state.
On regaining consciousness, the girl told about being raped and again fainted. Police actionOn the basis of the FIR lodged by the girl’s brother, the police took immediate action and arrested an accused Pramod Bisht, resident of Baidikot village Talli Mirai. Police said that a case has been registered and the investigation has been handed over to Sub Inspector Moni Tamta. The girl and the accused are being medically examined. Villagers’ anger After the incident, the villagers protested outside the CHC demanding the arrest of the accused. They alleged that there was laxity in the medical examination. MLA Madan Singh Bisht also reached the hospital and expressed his displeasure over the delay in medical treatment. After this, the girl was sent to a higher center in Ranikhet. MLA’s statement MLA Madan Singh Bisht called the incident shameful and directed strict action against the culprits.
